Ihlara Valley (Peristremma)

•Near town of Guzelyurt. 16 km long valley. Whole valley honeycombed with underground dwellings and churches from the Byzantine period. Due to plentiful supply of water and hidden places, this is the first settlement of first Christians escaping from Roman soldiers. Hundreds of churches in the volcanic rock caves. The most known are

•Purenliseki- terrace. Dedicated to the 40 Martyrs

•Kokar- smelly

•Yilanli- snake

•Karagedik- black collar

•Kirkdamatli- St. George

•Ala- mottled

•Kemerli

•Egritas- crooked stone. Dedicated to Panayia.
